The Luxembourg Association for Family Offices is at the origin of the Family Offices law of 21st December 2012. This major legislative development created a legal framework for the Family Office activity, now reserved for certain categories of regulated professionals. What is a Family Office? The Family Office is primarily a service provider to "families and heritage entities". It does not intervene in the management of the business or assets of its clients. A family office coordinates the relations of a family or an entity with a set of service providers to serve its client (asset management, lawyers, tax advisors, banks, trustees, notaries ...). The association actively contributes to the recognition of the Family Office profession by the country's authorities. The association wishes to pursue its development by bringing together professionals from diverse backgrounds. Only companies can join LAFO. Luxembourg benefits from all the assets to enable a significant development of the Family Office, thanks to its multicultural positioning in the heart of Europe and to its excellent reputation.
