Ontario’s Anesthesiologists is a section of the Ontario Medical Association. Our vision is anesthesiologists as leading partners, delivering the highest standards of innovative, safe, and sustainable patient care. In Canada, an anesthesiologist is certified as a specialist physician by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and has the designation Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC). Anesthesiologists in Ontario make up over half of the anesthesiologists in Canada. Anesthesiologists are familiar with all medical conditions and their management during surgery. An anesthesiologist prepares patients for surgery, manages their vital signs throughout operative procedures and minimizes their discomfort afterwards. Anesthesiologists also actively participate in nearly every field of acute healthcare, from the delivery of new babies to caring for the sick and elderly. We also participate to a large degree in the administration of healthcare facilities.
