HBX was founded in 2018 as Digital South Media focussing on training and development of small business in South Africa, before taking a detour in 2019 to form Simply Local, an e-commerce platform for small businesses. During the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, we identified technology as one of the single largest factors impacting the success of business in South Africa and the rapid rise of technologically enabled businesses. The impact on micro business with little or no access to technology have made us rethink how we utilise our technology and make it available at all levels of the business cycle, and we've partnered with Metseng Entrepreneurship Network to create HBX, which is our primary focus today.
