Artists in Residence
www.artistsinresidence.org.ukThe Programme The programme seeks to promote the importance of arts in education and to inspire young people to pursue careers in the arts by giving schools unparalleled access to time with leading artists. Our Vision Our programme aims to increase pupil wellbeing and outcomes in schools by providing learners with a more rounded curriculum that promotes arts education. In doing so, we hope to raise pupil aspirations for employment in creative industries, increase pupil life opportunities and satisfaction, prepare pupils for the jobs of the future, and create increased public awareness and engagement in arts education. Our Mission Our not-for-profit programme will connect schools, seeking to expand their engagement with the arts, with artists who are passionate about making an impact in communities and advocating arts in education. Artists will commit to spending a day with students in school, which we hope will lead to longer term partnership. An initial pilot with 30 London schools will run through the Autumn term 2018, with the full programme to be launched in January 2019. Although starting in London, we expect the initiative to spread throughout the UK in September 2019. Our Objectives We seek to facilitate partnerships between schools and artists from a variety of professions within the creative sector, which can include, but is not exclusive to: - Architecture - Fine arts (painting, sculpture etc) and crafts - Design (product, graphic and fashion etc) - Film, TV, video, radio and photography - Literary arts (poetry, spoken word) - Music - Performing, theatre visual arts and dance
