PGU is one of the greatest university in the south of Iran. It is located in the coastal city of Bushehr. It is a state university under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Established in 1991 as Bushehr University, it started as a "Technical & Engineering College" with two majors of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Today, Persian Gulf University (PGU) consists of eight faculties offering undergraduate courses leading to Bachelor's degrees (B.A. or B.S.) in 25 disciplines, postgraduate courses leading to Master's degrees in 43 subjects and doctoral courses leading to Ph.D degrees in 12 subjects.
