Aliancia stredoškolákov
www.alianciastredoskolakov.skThe Alliance of High School Students (Aliancia stredoškolákov) is a non-profit organisation of high school students. Its mission/purpose is to connect pupils in a question of their rights and possibilities they have. They target to defend and assert their rights, solve problems that bother them. In November 2015, the Alliance started a petition for 4 requests of high school students, which was signed by 30,000 high school students. The demands of the petition were – cancel the dependence of a vocational certificate from A-level (Maturita in Slovakia), depoliticisation of the election of principals and a freedom to choose the level of A-level (Maturita) in a foreign language. In collaboration with the elected members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, the Alliance brought forward a key proposal to depoliticize the election of principals and change the law of Students’ School Council. In this law, on 16. 11. 2016 during the historically first briefing of high school students in the National Council of the Slovak Republic, were proposed 10 suggestions to educational reform. The Alliance of High School Students has co-ordinated a number of campaigns during teachers’ protests and has been deliberately trying to gain political support for academic reforms. At this moment, the Alliance of High School Students has more than 300 registered members and more than 2500 followers.
