Simon Says Child Bereavement Support
www.simonsays.org.ukSimon Says is a registered charity providing support for children and young people up to the age of 18, living in the county of Hampshire, who have a significant person in their life who has died or is dying. It is estimated that 1 in 25 of school aged children will have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. This does not account for those who have lost another significant person e.g. a grandparent, aunt or uncle, a cousin or a close friend. Covering Hampshire we receive around 1000 calls a year requesting support and information for helping bereaved children. We offer: Support Helpline. Call our Support Line on 023 8064 7550 and speak to one of our team who are trained in bereavement support. They will take time to listen carefully to your concerns and questions on how best to support the bereaved child or young person. Host support groups. Held monthly in various locations across Hampshire (Basingstoke, Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh, New Milton, Gosport & Portsmouth) our age appropriate support groups offer children and their families the opportunity to work through their bereavement journey. Advice, support and training for teachers and other professionals working with bereaved children and young people. Written resources, advice on bereavement policy and general talks in assemblies about our work. We rely on the donations and goodwill of individuals and companies. Only with continued contributions can we carry on making a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people. "I don't talk about my Dad at home because it upsets my family - but at the groups I can". Simon Says group member aged 8. Please visit our website for further information. Thank you.
