The Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association is dedicated to representing and advocating on behalf of Pennsylvania's public transportation providers and the communities they serve. Formed in 1997, by the merger of the Pennsylvania Association of Municipal Transportation Authorities and the Pennsylvania Association for Community Transportation, the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association is a professional trade organization providing leadership, resources, support and technical assistance. PPTA is a unified voice serving to advocate and strengthen the role of public transportation in improving the quality of life for all Pennsylvania citizens. PPTA offers outstanding education and training through PennTRAIN, the Pennsylvania Transportation Resource and Information Network, in partnership with PennDOT and the federal RTAP program. PPTA also benefits from its collaborative relationships with the American Public Transit Association, the Community Transportation Association of America, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and local and state agencies and organizations. The mission of PPTA is to be the foremost advocate for public transportation and mobility management in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and to be of support to all association members in achieving their defined missions.
