Disha Public School is a part of Disha Educational & Social Care Organization (DESCO), a registered non-profit organization, founded by an academician couple with 20+ years of experience teaching at the University of Delhi. It is a school where first-generation schoolgoers from difficult socio-economic backgrounds, often denied education in other schools, are openly welcomed. DESCO has the mission to eradicate illiteracy by providing subsidized, continual and quality education to children of the community of Jasola, New Delhi. Many among its current 500+ students pay nominal fees or study free of cost by paying their school fees in the form of plastic waste from their homes and participate in the school's Recycling Center while learning environmental science. Inspired by Gandhi's Nai Talim education philosophy, DESCO's secondary curriculum balances vocational training with conventional academics. Our main focus is on their holistic development rather than giving them only formal education. We have a team of young, dedicated and qualified teachers from different educational backgrounds, for the teaching and training of these students. They are the sculptors who mould the minds of students to greatness.
