Almost 70 percent of India lives in villages. 343.5 million children from rural India cannot build a career of their choice only because of the unequal distribution of opportunities and resources. At Insight Walk we believe the background of a child should not dictate his destiny. We work alongside children of age 6-14 who come from an environment unsupportive of education and full of stigma. Our villages often lack even the most basic facilities. We setup Innovation and Passion Lab with Community Centres in villages where the fellows guide the children. Our fellows are female dropouts from the village who had to give up education due to financial constraints, early marriage, patriarchy, gender inequality, etc. We focus on building literacy, reading – writing skills, innovation using local resources, hobby, and life skills exploration along with mental well being. Our key focus is also on building a healthy parent-child relationship to create safe learning conditions at home.
