The Maarifa Foundation empowers students with the knowledge and opportunity to make positive environmental choices, contributing to local and global conservation outcomes. In Kenya, we support students in Maasai communities situated close to private wildlife conservancies and twin with classrooms in Australia, offering unique cultural and conservation exchange opportunity, whilst also supporting Australian kids achieve their own local environmental goals. We focus particularly on threatened species and sustainable living. Supporting the community, supports the wildlife Land owned by the Maasai communities, otherwise cleared and grazed, but instead, set aside for conservation and low-density eco-tourism, provides integral ecological support for National Parks and Reserves. It importantly also provides financial benefit to the community. We work to ensuring the ongoing protection and enhancement of these lands and wildlife by engaging the younger generation in our education for conservation initiatives. We are a global village - These initiatives include providing opportunity for Australian students to make a positive impact to their own local natural values whilst also paying it forward to their global classmates and making a difference to the lives of other children and the wild places where they live.
