peaslee design
www.peasleedesign.comThe purpose of this page is to expand further upon my personal page which is also about peaslee design. I design and build hardwood tables, chairs, beds, desks, storage units, entertainment centers, kitchens, vanities, benches and I've also done a gazebo or two. The designs are my own or those of interior designers, architects or custom variations on themes homeowners would like to see in their environment. I prefer design collaboration as I believe that input from all involved parties makes for a stronger, more complete finished product. I prefer to use North American hardwoods as they are the most easily attainable and sustainable. I can't vouch for the sustainability of foreign hardwoods such as teak or mahogany or more exotic species so I generally don't use them. I also believe that hardwood furniture is more durable than that made from 'softer' woods. My finishes are environmentally friendly; that is, I either use waterborne film finishes or an oil finish that's derived from whey or soy products. There is minimal fuming off after the product is delivered and installed. Most finishes can be maintained with the wipe of a damp rag. While the coating I use is protective, none provides perfect protection. Care must be taken not to leave spills unattended or 'sweating' glasses on wood surfaces, no matter what the finish. My lead times vary, of course, depending upon my backlog and the size of the project. Generally, it's around 12 weeks but I make it a practice to be clear at all times about my estimated schedule, both while bidding and in the course of production.
