Festive Currents’ mandate is to facilitate the involvement of multi-generational members of the Muslim community and their neighbors in interdisciplinary artistic and cultural expressions through our annual festivals and year-long programming. We also act as a support system for artists in the Muslim community by providing performance space, opportunities, resources, and training. Our mission is to position art as a viable outlet for the energy of Muslim youth and dispel its “taboo” status through education. This is achieved by pushing the boundaries of what are acceptable forms of art in the Muslim community while still maintaining strong link to Islamic tradition.
