Back in 1935, when Robert Lowe established a toy and hobby shop named K-Dee after his wife Kathleen Dee, he couldn’t have known that it will come to be the national icon it is today. What started as a small store had already become a tourist attraction by the 1940s, when no visit to the city, whether by tram, rail or bus, was complete without a visit to Hobbyco. Today, Hobbyco is Australia’s largest family owned hobby retailer, with more than 40,000 products that hobbyists or toy lovers of all ages dream of. The flagship shop is located in the historic Queen Victoria Building Shopping Centre with over 650 square metres of retail space on two floors. Hobbyco also has three other stores, in Burwood, Rhodes and Chatswood, and a fourth opening soon.
