Vesper College is a small graduate school of fine arts and architecture that offers a Master of Fine Arts degree in Ecological Architecture. Vesper College is committed in its vision, mission and curriculum to fostering and inspiring the design of space that connects its occupants to a better understanding of the earth. The Vesper College MFA in Ecological Architecture and its curriculum is a balanced hybrid of a traditional studio Master of Fine Arts and a Master of Architecture program which demands its students to engage beyond design into the realm of hands-on making. Vesper College students are trained as ecological architects who translate ideas into designs and designs into built work. Through research, Vesper students learn to oscillate from left brain academic rigor to right brain abstraction and conceptualization. Vesper College students also learn how to gauge and adjust perspectives from a mind’s eye view to a vascular or heart perspective which better connects them to the vantage point of the earth. Vesper College students are researchers, problem solvers, draftspeople and AutoCAD technicians, but they are above all, makers of contemplative space. Vesper College trains its graduates to teach and profess their knowledge in an engaging and inspiring way. The MFA in Eco-Architecture is a terminal degree and thus credentials its holders to teach at the collegiate level. Vesper College graduates are trained to practice interior design, architectural design, landscape design, design-build, construction management, public installation art and above all, to teach others.
