PashooPakshee started with a vision to give tourists a meaningful take away by providing socially responsible and destination specific souvenirs at India's tourist attractions which are made by artisans and locals living near the destination with the purpose of generating sustainable livelihood and a sense of inclusion in locals to preserve the destination. We noticed the lack of quality souvenirs in the Indian tourism space with the proliferation of mass manufactured items and cheap imported products being sold as souvenirs. The idea was to create socially responsible souvenirs by employing marginalized local communities and promote local arts and crafts by creating contemporary designs through these artforms. Our sustainable livelihoods initiatives began by partnering with local non-profits and conducting training programs for their communities. Over the years we have developed a strong bond with these communities. As of today, we are closely associated with five (5) communities comprising a mix of marginalized communities from cities and tribal communities from very remote villages. We are christened PashooPakshee because we started with our focus on Wildlife & Nature tourism. Over the years we have begun to explore and work with other tourist sectors as well.
