Built in 2003, the library is nearly 16,000 square feet with a collection size of more than 40,000 items. We serve the residents of the City of Waukee, the Des Moines metro and Dallas County. The Waukee Public Library offers many programs and events for children, teens and adults. The library features two unique museums built with generous donations; the Hal Manders Baseball Museum opened in 2009 and the Ori Coal Mine Museum opened in 2012. The Waukee Public Library is a city department and the majority of funding comes from the city through property taxes. The library also receives funding from Dallas County and the State of Iowa based on certain usage statistics. The Waukee Public Library Friends Foundation provides additional funding for the immediate and long-term needs of the library through generous donations from our community residents and businesses.
