Hope For Young Adults With Cancer
www.hope4yawc.orgHope For Young Adults With Cancer is a 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in St. Louis, MO with a chapter in Denver, CO that has the mission to connect with our peers 18-35, in the fight to support and provide a social network and outlet for those battling, surviving and living with cancer. Founded in April 2011, Hope For Young Adults With Cancer is one of the few organizations in the United States to support 18-35 year-olds and the unique challenges that present itself to them. Each year, nearly 72,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer. This age group makes up less than 10% of all cancer patients but also has the lowest statistical survival rate, possibly due to factors such as lack of insurance, less participation in clinical trials and delayed diagnoses. Once faced with the devastating diagnosis of cancer, the financial struggle and lack of emotional support is immediate and almost always overwhelming. Every donation goes directly to young adults with cancer needing financial aid during and after treatment. We've never met a young adult who wants to sit in a weird room and eat doughnuts while talking about cancer. So we decided to get out and "get busy living"! Our social events are free to young adults who have cancer or had cancer and will be listed monthly under our events tab and on our website. Hope for YAWC can also answer questions about planning private fundraisers. If you don't know where to get started you can contact us at info@hope4yawc.org for help.
