South Shields Marine School is part of Tyne Coast College, formed from the merger in August 2017 of South Tyneside College and Tyne Metropolitan College (TyneMet), North Tyneside. Established in 1861, we offer programmes across the whole spectrum of marine education and nautical sciences, including navigation, operations, marine and electrical engineering and communications and catering. We offer cadet programmes, professional industry training as well as offshore and safety training to international shipping companies and marine offshore markets. A majority of safety training programmes are delivered at our Marine Offshore Safety Training Centre (MOST) on Wapping Street, South Shields, one of the UK's major offshore training facilities.
