Who We Are The Missouri University of Science and Technology Solar House Design Team empowers future generations to build a more sustainable world. Every two years, a multidisciplinary team of students designs and constructs a solar-powered home, collaborating with faculty and industry advisers to ensure a successful design. The Team provides opportunities for students to expand their knowledge and innovation skills regarding the integration of architecture and technology with dwelling space design and function. They learn how to collaborate in a team environment and gain hands-on experience in design and construction. Other skills such as product development, marketing, and financial management are developed through administrative duties necessary to run the Team, further preparing members for future leadership roles in industry. Mission Statement The Missouri University of Science and Technology Solar House Team seeks to better the University, community, and environment by uniting students and advisers of diverse backgrounds and skill sets to design and construct 100% solar-powered homes that are marketable, affordable, and efficient. This experiential learning opportunity allows students to collaborate in a team environment to gain skills that build upon the foundation of in-class curriculum and will help them succeed as leaders in their respective industries, while promoting sustainable development, designing for the future, and inspiring others to do the same.
