St. Paul Ballet (SPB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit performing arts producer and community arts school in St. Paul, MN. SPB has established a reputation for artistic excellence in dance performance, education and outreach for all levels of dance experience, and innovation in utilizing an artist-led model for dance companies. SPB’s vision is to lift the human spirit through the art of ballet. Its mission is to perform a vibrant repertory with a passion for the highest level of excellence, provide the finest dance education, and reduce barriers to involvement in the art of dance. Historical Highlights: • Performed in Saint Paul at The O’Shaughnessy; E.M. Pearson Theater, Concordia University; Ordway McKnight Theater; Macalester College Theater; in Minneapolis at The Cowles Center for Dance & Performing Arts; and in St. Cloud at the Paramount Theater. • Past Company member Andrew Lester won a Sage Award for Outstanding Performer for his work in One with St. Paul Ballet. • Presented world premieres of Poised by Joseph Morrissey, A Montana Memoir by Allison Doughty and Grey Matter by Zoé Emilie Henrot at The Cowles Center for Dance & Performing Arts. • Awarded 4-year Operating Support Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. • Opened a satellite studio in the culturally and economically diverse Hamline-Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul and expanded programming in all locations. • Awarded an MRAC grants for Organizational Development, Arts Activities and Arts Learning • Hosted four national and international choreographers who set work on the company: Peter Davison of Boulder Ballet; Katie Elliot of 3rd Law Dance/Theater; Joseph Morrissey of Hong Kong Ballet; and Swiss-Canadian Kinsun Chan.
