SmartArchitecture provides services in architecture, landscape design, interiors, and furniture design. Ours is a firm that prides itself upon its ability to listen well. We believe in guiding and coordinating the involvement of all members of the project team – the client, the general contractor, the structural engineer – in order to maximize efficiency and strengthen the design so that it works best for the user. For more than twenty years, SmartArchitecture has been committed to helping our clients to achieve thoughtful and efficient spaces – whether in renovating, adding, or transforming existing structures, restoring historically significant buildings, finding more space within the fixed footprint of an urban space, or designing for new construction. We believe in the planning and integration of architecture throughout a project and in many cases this has resulted in the extension of our design role into landscape, interiors, millwork details, and/or furniture design. The Principal and founder of SmartArchitecture, Margaret S. Booz, is a registered architect in the state of Massachusetts, and NCARB-certified to work across the United States. Our office is an open, atelier-style space which we find to be the most conducive to the sharing of ideas and information. Our construction document work is performed with the Mac-based ArchiCAD software, a sophisticated three-dimensionally integrated program. We have long-standing relationships with a variety of consultants - MEP and structural engineers, lighting consultants, cost estimators, and general contractors - from whom we seek and exchange information. The bulk of the work we do is residential, however we also have had many institutional and commercial clients over the years. We welcome new challenges and the opportunity to implement new ideas and innovation.
