Women* in Law (Manchester)
studentassociation.law.ac.ukThe Women* in Law Society is a space for individuals of all backgrounds, including non-law students and those of any identity, to discuss the legal profession and the unique challenges we face. The society organises skill based workshops, such as application writing, and meetings with professionals or speakers from various institutions, as well as fostering friendships and community through social events and celebrating the achievements of women* and other underrepresented identities in law. Ultimately, we are striving to create a network of women* and allies to support, bolster, and work together to navigate the changing legal field. *includes anyone who wholly or partially identifies as a woman. We are aware that Covid-19 means that socialising and making connections is currently more difficult than ordinary, and we recognise how especially difficult that is for people like ourselves who are beginning at a new school. To adapt to this situation, we host casual fortnightly meetings on Wednesdays at 6:30pm. As it stands, these will be held virtually, and are completely open and informal, meaning it is an opportunity to meet others, make friends, play virtual games, as well as talk about issues we are facing, discuss support which we could offer and suggest workshops, in the way we would ordinarily in person. More details can be found on Facebook.
