We dreamt about and made gift boxes from colourful packaging paper. To our delight, it was not only us who liked them in the Christmas fairs. We sold a few thousands of them. All beginnings are difficult. We established our company, Sz.Variáns BT. Sz for Szakál (family name), and V for Variáns referring to packaging variations. It turned out very soon that our enthusiasm was bigger than our expertise. We rented an old industrial plant, which was 70 square metres, and we bought some out-of-use rusty machines. We made phone calls and sent faxes from the neighbouring building. We put our designs and visions on drawing boards. On the basis of our history mentioned above, and on the basis of our traditions, renewing them day by day, the main target of Sz.Varians, in a harmonious, creative and fruitful cooperation with our partners and customers, is not less than to assist in giving birth to brands that last, and who knows, maybe to legends one day... Our aim in every case is that the packaging we make should display the product and its message in the most efficient way, and that it should inform the buyers what they can expect from the given product. On the basis of function, basic material and irregular form, we want our partners to remember the packaging even after years. In every case we try to design and produce a packaging that makes the buyer think ‘this is so beautiful that I deserve it’.
