First Real Estate Investment Trust of New Jersey is an equity real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company acquires, develops, constructs and holds real estate properties for long-term investment and not for resale. The Company operates in two segments: Commercial Properties and Residential Properties. The Company owns a portfolio of residential apartment and commercial properties. The Company's properties are located in New Jersey, Maryland and New York. It funds acquisition opportunities and the development of its real estate properties through debt financing, including mortgage loans against certain of its properties. As of October 31, 2016, its real estate holdings included eight apartment buildings or complexes containing a total of 1, 472 rentable units, and nine commercial properties (retail and office) containing approximately 1, 338, 000 square feet of leasable space. Its commercial and residential properties include Franklin Crossing, Westwood Plaza and Hammel Gardens.
