Banking on Women strives to be the premier financial services society at the University of Melbourne, dedicated to developing our members’ professional skills and helping them to become future leaders in their prospective careers. Our mission is to champion for gender equality in the financial and professional services industries through informing our members of the importance and benefits of gender diversity. We strive to Empower, Educate and Encourage our members and provide them with the industry-specific knowledge needed to differentiate oneself in today’s competitive landscape. Since being founded in 2012 with the support of Credit Suisse as our Founding Sponsor, Banking on Women has grown to be a well-respected and supported contributor to the Faculty of Business and Economics. We have secured the support of the Faculty, The University of Melbourne Student Union, as well as several leading financial and professional services firms who facilitate the education of our members through insightful seminars and forums. Our current sponsors include Credit Suisse, Australian Super, BCG, Bloomberg, Bank of America, Citi, Grant Samuel, Goldman Sachs, L.E.K., Oliver Wyman, PwC, Strategy&, UBS and JPMorgan. Across the year, we run many educational and professional development events for our large member base. These enable our members to grow a strong network and develop a competitive advantage when applying for internships and graduate positions. At the end of 2019, we launched our podcast titled ‘BoWTalks’. Through candid conversations between students and industry professionals, our podcast addresses the experiences and challenges faced by women in business. We also currently run a ‘Bold with BoW’ Mentoring Program, which provides high-potential students with focused and individualised development opportunities by connecting them with a member of our executive team and committee alumni.
