The First Aid Industry Body (a Trade Body) has been created as a viable alternative to Ofqual/SQA for the future of First Aid approval and monitoring because large numbers of First Aid Training Organisations do not feel the Ofqual/SQA route is FIT FOR PURPOSE for First Aid. It will be run by experts in the The First Aid Industry for the benefit of First Aid Training Organisations, Trainers and Assessors within the Industry through a Democratically Elected Advisory Panel of people from within First Aid Training Organisations. IT WILL BE RUN FOR THE INDUSTRY BY THE INDUSTRY It will provide a fair, consistent, unbiased National Approval and Monitoring System that is TOTALLY INDEPENDENT of any Training Organisation. It is open to both HSE Training Organisations and non-HSE Training Organisations including those who have previously operated as a Franchise. Our system is run along similar lines to the old HSE Approval and Monitoring system however it will be stronger because we will conduct more direct monitoring visits by qualified Inspectors (some ex-HSE) than in the HSE system but at the same time keep costs to an absolute minimum. We also continue to recommend Assessors on First Aid at Work courses. We already have over 300 Training Organisations who will also issue their own certificates.
