The Civil Association for Equality and Justice, known by its initials in Spanish, ACIJ, is a non-partisan, not for profit organization dedicated defending the rights of disadvantaged groups within Argentine society as well as the strengthening of democratic institutions. Founded in 2002, our mission is to strengthen democracy, promote respect for basic rights, and work in defense of the most vulnerable groups in our society. ACIJ's objectives are: -Work for better functionality and greater transparency from public institutions, such as administrative organs, legislators, the courts of law and regulatory bodies. -Promote the enforcement of the Constitution and demand effective application of the laws that exist to protect disadvantaged groups. -Toil to eliminate the laws and practices that continue to allow discriminatory practices to continue and whose reversal has been postponed over time. -Inform citizens of their basics rights and provide information about the channels available to protect those rights. -Carry out public policy reform. -Educate professionals from a wide range of disciplines who are committed to public policy, transparency and civil society's role in the political process. Access to public information, transparency, corruption, urbanization, inclusive education for students of all abilities and basic social, cultural and economic rights are some of the specific areas in which ACIJ contributes to public debate and works tirelessly for an equal application of rights for all. Some of the tools ACIJ uses are: -Litigation to demand the fulfillment of basic human rights. -Access to information in order to monitor the state's obligations, especially as they relate to the most vulnerable sectors of society. -Budget analysis to demand an equal distribution of the resources available. -Research as a policy tool, deepening understanding of new issues as they come to light. -Research and monitoring of government policies and generation of new proposals to enrich the public debate. -The use of new technologies in information and communication in order to create innovative tools that promote transparency and citizen participation.
