The Institute of Internal Auditors Canada (The IIA Canada) is affiliated with The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA), a global organization headquartered in Florida. The IIA Canada serves the needs of 7,400 Canadian members. With its headquarters in Ottawa, The IIA Canada works in partnership with its 12 Chapters across Canada, providing learning, training, professional development, publications, and services for its members, and advocating for the profession to key governments, regulatory bodies and related organizations. The first Canadian IIA Chapter was established in Toronto in 1944, and over the years, Chapters grew in number across the country. In the early 2000's, Canadian Internal Audit Leaders identified unique needs of members which were not being met by the The IIA North American nor the Global organizations. In 2006, a Canadian Board was established to provide a voice for the internal audit profession in Canada. Today, The IIA Canada actively advocates on behalf of internal audit professionals, and provides its members with learning, training, professional development, and services from a Canadian perspective. The IIA Canada members continue to enjoy benefits offered by The IIA's North American Service Center including: local, national, and global professional networking; world-class training; certification; standards, and guidance; research; executive development; career opportunities; and more.
