Copper Views Film Productions engages with themes like globalisation, us vs them, ethics, power relations, 'the Other', cultural encounters and tourism related issues and challenges. Our productions aim to open the audience’s eyes, challenge stereotypical thinking and make the world just that little bit smaller, one project at a time. Previously, we made Framing the Other, (25 minutes), a short documentary about tourism and its complex relations with native people. It exposes the intriguing thoughts of a Mursi woman from Southern Ethiopia and a Dutch tourist during their preparations of an encounter. This results in a worrying and, at the same time, moving setting. Besides documentaries, we also design Education Packages for education. As a former lecturer at BUas, Breda University of Applied Sciences producer Ilja Kok knows the value of using documentaries (or other types of media) in classroom settings in order to inspire, create new perspectives and provoke different and touching discussions. The education package Framing the Other has been sold to over 330 universities worldwide.
