Speedgate Enterprises Limited is a family business that was founded in 1974 by Chris & Moira Hollands. The business is currently run by the next generation of the Hollands family - Ashley, Julian, James and Lyndon. Originally the business started as an arable and fruit farm selling some of its produce, including hay and straw to local farmers and horse owners. In the early 1980s we started to diversify into the equestrian market leading to the opening of Speedgate Saddlery in 1982. At the same time some of the farm outbuildings were converted into DIY livery stables. Eventually as demand for products increased the feed was moved into a new building which is still being used today. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s the business continued to grow, with the Saddlery and Feed Barns continuing to attract more customers and stock a wider range of products. We also started to run equestrian events from our site at Speedgate Farm in Fawkham and continued to develop our off-road equestrian riding tracks. In 2007 we launched our first comprehensive online store which has continued to develop and grow to this day. In September 2010, we acquired the Saddlery, Feed Barn and Mail Order businesses of Frogpool Manor from the Dyer family who had been running the stores for many years. These stores have subsequently been rebranded as Speedgate Chislehurst and continue to run from the Frogpool Manor site in Chislehurst. We now employ over 50 staff across our four stores, feed delivery department and arable farm. The 600 acre farm still produces our own hay and straw, whilst our equestrian events continue to grow year by year.
