Trenton Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC)

www.trentonmfrc.ca

The Trenton MFRC serves over 4,400 military members and approximately 7,500 dependants living in the Quinte region. Every year, hundreds of military members and their families use the resources offered by the Trenton MFRC. Providing and promoting community-based services and resources that enrich, strengthen and enhance the quality of life for military families serving at 8 Wing Canadian Forces Base Trenton (CFB Trenton) remains our priority. HISTORY Over 25 years ago, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) recognized the many challenges facing military families due to their very unique lifestyle. They also recognized the critical role these families play in helping support the member maintain operational readiness. Consequently, the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) was established in 1991 to help enrich the lives of military families. Located on Canadian Armed Forces Bases (CAF) and Wings across Canada, an MFRC is the heart and home of many of these military communities. MFRCs provide programs and services that empower and encourage strong, healthy and independent individuals and families. The model chosen for the delivery of military family programs and services is family support and community development. Each MFRC is a non-profit organization managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, represented by a majority of military family members. Board members assess local needs, avoid duplication of community services and resources while determining priorities, providing leadership and the mandated delivery of the National Military Family Services Program.
