URIDU
www.uridu.orgWomen are key to a sustainable future for all of us. The problem is: 500 million women worldwide are illiterate. How can we reach out and empower them with knowledge? How can we scale the outreach efforts of millions of NGOs? We created Audiopedia, a robust and scalable digital solution to provide audible knowledge to marginalized populations. With relevant expert contents recorded in their native language. Simple technology makes it accessible for anybody, anywhere. Audiopedia runs both on smartphones and smart feature phones. You can use it on solar audio players and with local Wifi hotspots. No electricity? No coverage? No problem. It works everywhere. Audiopedia can be customized to the needs of each NGO. We provide NGO’s with consulting, training and technical support. Digital community outreach is now at the hands of every organization, everywhere. We strongly believe that open digital tools are key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as they provide an accessible pathway for digital transformation in the Global South. Our aim is to lay the foundations for local development of inclusive digital tools where they will ultimately be used. This is why we created the Open Source for Equality initiative in 2022. The goal of Open Source for Equality is to promote the development and use of free and open software that bridges the digital gender gap. Only 6% of all open source contributors worldwide are women - in the Global South this number is even much lower. We need to act now if we want to bridge the digital gender gap with open source solutions developed for and by women.
