West started operations in the city of Mayaguez in 1971. The company was founded as an electrical contracting firm, In 1999, a related corporation required the remodeling of various low income housing residential project. These works ranged from building community centers, painting, replacing of storm sewers and construction of retaining walls in projects that on average had 70 housing units. These works were contracted to West, totaling 4 million dollars in general contracting works, thus triggering the evolution of West into a general contracting firm.
