In August of 1970, Jerry Mealey opened a 2,000 sq. ft. store on Torresdale Ave. in NE Philadelphia and proudly showed four sofas, three bedroom sets, a few recliners and dinettes. His wife, Alice handled the phone and sons Dan and Kevin unpacked customer orders and delivered them in a '69 Chevy Impala after school. Thanks to hard work and lots of enthusiasm and dedication, one thing led to another....
