The Vaccine and Drug Evaluation Centre (VDEC) services span the range of research studies required to bring a vaccine or pharmaceutical product into routine use; from understanding disease epidemiology and human and economic burden to ensuring that the product is safe, effective and producing the anticipated economic benefits. Contact us at: VDEC@umanitoba.ca or call 1- (204) 272-3139 Our mission is to provide timely and high-quality information needed for decision-making, planning and evaluating vaccine and prescription drug programs by: • conducting collaborative interdisciplinary research on uptake, safety and effectiveness of the vaccines and drugs used in Manitoba • carrying out mathematical modeling and cost-effectiveness studies • conducting disease burden and trend studies necessary for planning the introduction of new vaccines • performing ad hoc investigations of vaccine and drug adverse events. VDEC is a research unit of the Department of Community Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada.
