Microbiotests Inc was established in 2001 as spin-off of the University of Ghent (Belgium). Microbiotests is the world market leader and manufacturer of standardized and culture-independent ecotoxicological bioassays and tes biota. These microbiotests Toxkits and test species are used for the detection and monitoring of toxic compounds in polluted aquatic and terrestrial environments. The unique characteristic and the major asset of the microbiotests Toxkit technology is that these bioassays are totally independent of the culturing and maintenance of stocks of test organisms. The bioassays make use of "dormant" or "immobilised" stages of selected test species, which can be stored for long periods of time and activated at the time of performance of the assays.
