When the global COVID-19 pandemic hit Sri Lanka in March 2020, we realized that many senior citizens were challenged with trying to get medicines, groceries and other essentials, during the lockdown which was imposed at short notice. With Vigilant Security’s 47 years of commitment to providing safety and security to the community, it was a natural progression to reach out to our customers and their elders to deliver medical supplies and groceries. Our existing resources were re-deployed to respond to the crisis and we were able to assist these seniors at no extra cost to them. Due to the increase in demand, even from non-customers, it was heartening to extend this service to all senior citizens who were left helpless in the absence of their regular support structure and their inability to navigate the online world to obtain products & services. As it was a fulfilling experience to assist the ‘Silver community’, we were inspired to continue serving them. Recognizing the need to provide a more comprehensive service offering, Mario Perumal, Managing Director of Vigilant Security, joined hands with his long-standing friend Ruwan Weerawardana, an entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, to create SilverAssist, a concierge for seniors. Being fortunate and available, to help our own parents over these past years and through these difficult times, we have gained a deep understanding of the extent and nature of assistance they need to lead an enjoyable and stress-free life. SilverAssist is committed to taking care of the mundane chores and challenges, that are stressful to seniors in their silver years. We believe in helping seniors to live life to their fullest!
