Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sport was founded on November 8, 1930. The opening ceremony of the Transcaucasian State Institute of Physical Education was held in the present building of Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society. The main objectives of the Institute was to train teachers of physical education, coaches, medical meteorologists for the support of physical education, sport, management and journalism.
