SWEATIZEN

At SWEATIZEN, we believe in a business model that empowers others. Aside from our male founder, we work with an all-female core team to build a brand that uplifts. The combination of premium, planet-friendly apparel and empowerment of African artists is what makes us unique. We make striking T-shirts, hoodies and more that are printed and embroidered with African artwork. Standout style is combined with the highest-quality sustainable materials, while a network of small local partners in the UK and Africa ensure that each design supports the local economy. We want to create a global community of people who are citizens of sweat culture… SWEATIZENS. It has a ring to it. The premise of SWEATIZEN came from observing the devastating impact of COVID-19 on African art and the livelihood of African artists. These artists have seen their income plummet during the COVID-19 pandemic due to lack of tourism and inability to access the digital economy. We’ve formed partnerships with these artists to feature their designs on our apparel. Not only are they paid for the rights to their works but they also profit from prints sold in the brand’s online Art Gallery and benefit from the SWEATIZEN Future Artist Fund. A fund which focuses on providing art classes for children in Tanzanian schools taught by our partners themselves. Another huge part of our mission is to be as planet friendly as possible. We work exclusively with community-based partners who use ethical materials such as OCS Tanzanian organic cotton and recycled polyester, in line with our ethos of sustainability and empowerment. We support job creation and add value to smaller, local communities. We try to use ingredients that don’t harm the environment, like our Quick-Dry Performance T-Shirt for example, made from recycled plastic bottles. Supporting African artists, creating sustainable fashion and empowering others never looked so good, see for yourselves at www.sweatizen.com
