WAFUNIF’s activities are varied. With the help of a 21-member international Board of Directors elected on an equitable geographical basis and an increasing number of WAFUNIF representatives, a number of meetings, symposia, expert groups etc. are being coordinated throughout the world.. WAFUNIF’s representatives participate in UN and other international, inter-regional, regional and national meetings, making concrete recommendations that have been acted on. WAFUNIF engages in cross-organizational cooperation and interaction with the UN system. Particularly bodies having internships, fellowships and other training opportunities; fostering of permanent dialogue with UN and non-UN bodies on salient issues of concern to the international community, inter alia, structural adjustment policies and the impact of external debt, disarmament, development and economic security; environmental issues; international migration; science and technology for development; human resources development; triangular arrangements and international cooperation among developing countries; human rights; membership recruitment and services to be provided to WAFUNIF’s membership and the public-at-large; action-oriented research-cum-training; publication and dissemination. All WAFUNIF’s activities, including seminars and special reports, are devoted solely to United Nations matters and are implemented in close cooperation with agencies and organizations of the UN system. WAFUNIF promotes the vital role of the UN in educating and training for development and peace, particularly among young people.
