McCann Risk Solutions LLC
www.mccannrisk.comAbout Us We created McCann Risk Solutions having spent 16 years with both feet in Indian Country and over 40 years in the insurance industry. The primary impetus for forming the company was to provide the kind of Brokerage/Consulting services to Tribes as those enjoyed by main street America. What we found was that many Rural Tribes were paying far more for their insurance than Urban Tribes. Why is that the case? • It takes time and energy to visit Tribes that are off the beaten path. • Rural Tribes are smaller, thus perceived as less profitable to the Broker. • Most Brokers view their role as merely placement of insurance and not advising their client about their Total Cost of Risk. • Very few Brokers view their role as an extension of the Finance function of the Tribe. We seek to bring clarity to a confusing subject matter. • Tribes have very few market options, because the insurance industry does not understand Sovereignty. • Tribal Governments, Enterprises and Tribal Sovereignty are complex concepts and difficult to understand for most Brokers. If someone doesn’t immerse themselves in the understanding the risk, the service will not be of value or yield a reduction in the cost of risk. On average, most Rural Tribes are paying about 25% more for their insurance than urban Tribes. With only four insurance providers that works with Indian Country and Sovereign Nations, the options are limited, in the absence of a Broker advisor that understands protecting Tribal Sovereignty, these Tribes will always be faced with higher market cost for insurance. Our goal and feel-good moment is when we provide savings that can be diverted for other, more valuable purposes within Tribal Governments to improve services, provide housing or improve the Tribal economy. Our company mission/vision can be summed up as follows: “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value”. ~Albert Einstein
