The division's activities include research and education concerning the building process stretching from planning and design to construction. Our core competencies are management and automation of the building process, industrial and traditional construction and production systems, primarily for building construction but also for civil construction. We also conduct research on virtual and energy-efficient construction through visualization, analysis and simulation. The department is involved in two laboratories: MCE laboratory and Virtual Reality Lab. The division is responsible for some 20 undergraduate courses and is primarily responsible for the Master of Science in Civil Engineering programme with a major in Lean Construction and for the Master of Science in Achitectural Engineering programme with a major in Building Design. The number of employees at the division is about 30.
