Formed in 1996 by volunteer Worker Directors at First Group in Sheffield, TransaveUK was originally set up as a credit union for employees in the passenger transport industry. From the outset, the simple aim was to help colleagues in financial need and encourage the habit of saving regularly. Over the years, we have extended our membership to cover employees from many other sectors, including engineering, police and healthcare. Today, TransaveUK has over 12,000 members and rising, with accumulated savings of over £20 million. Like all credit unions, TransaveUK is a not-for-profit savings and loans cooperative. Members of TransaveUK pool their savings so we can lend responsibly to one another at a reasonable rate of interest.
