The Virginia Search and Rescue Council (VASARCO) works with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) to foster communication between search and rescue (SAR) units, to develop and implement commonwealth SAR policies, and to develop and coordinate the Virginia SAR response system. This includes providing for the training, personnel, facilities, and equipment, for the effective and coordinated delivery of SAR services within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
