Altyazi Cinema Magazine

www.altyazi.net

Altyazi Cinema Magazine has been Turkey's leading cinema magazine since 2001, championing cinephile culture and promoting independent filmmakers in Turkey and around the world. Altyazi’s mission has been to offer original and critical content with a special focus on independent film. Altyazi has actively participated in a number of film-related projects: writing and editing catalogues; curating film programs, sections, and sidebars; organising film seminars and events in cooperation with festivals and institutions such as Lincoln Film Center, Berlinale Talents, International Film Festival Rotterdam, ArteEast, Cinema East Film Festival, Crossing Europe Film Festival, !f Istanbul, Festival On Wheels, Istanbul Film Festival, and the Istanbul Modern Museum. In March 2019, Altyazi’s editorial board established the non-profit NGO, Altyazi Cinema Association. The new structure helped Altyazi to take more active role in Turkey’s independent film culture in cooperation with filmmakers, critics, cinephiles, film festivals, exhibition spaces and other NGOs working in the field and arts and culture. Altyazi Cinema Association aims to re-strengthen independent cinema’s ability to occupy a critical space in cultural politics of Turkey. Altyazi's aim is to sustain a platform where producers, readers and audiences of free film culture meet, debate and initiate forms of solidarity and action.
