OUR INSPIRATION The late Baroness Tessa Jowell was known for her compassionate and aspirational politics- a widely loved and admired humanitarian who was committed to issues of social justice and equity during nearly 50 years of public service. Her seminal work, in implementing the national Sure Start early years children's programme, along with the instigation of the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission (TJBCM) in the final weeks of her life to transform brain cancer care and treatment in the UK, demonstrate the unwavering commitment to strive for excellence and greater health equality which spanned her professional life. OUR VISION We will use Tessa’s vision and passion to inspire a new era of excellence in brain cancer treatment. OUR WORK Our current Mission is inspired by Tessa’s call for action to improve brain cancer treatment, research, and survival following her own devastating diagnosis. OUR ACTIVITIES - Grant-making: We provide financial grants in the fields of brain cancer. - Collaboration and Leadership: We galvanise key stakeholders and leading experts to build collaborative approaches, starting in improving brain cancer treatment. - Values: We embody and live the values Tessa demonstrated throughout her life. - Offer Expertise: We offer and second resources including expertise, project management and visionary ambassadorship to maximise the success of projects. - Utilising Networks: We sensitively lend the weight of Tessa’s name and reputation to help access and influence decision-makers to accelerate positive change in brain cancer and to other legacy projects in future.
