World Vegetable Center
www.worldveg.orgThe World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is an international non-profit research and development institute with a unique mandate in vegetables. We conduct research and development projects to understand and promote diversity in seeds, diversity in agricultural systems, and diversity in diets. WorldVeg applies expertise across vegetable systems to achieve healthier lives, more resilient livelihoods, increased biodiversity, and improved climate adaptation and resilience. As an agricultural science leader, WorldVeg makes knowledge, innovations, and research findings openly accessible to decision-makers, scientists, civil society, and actors across the food system. Our work embraces the principles of sustainability by tackling the root causes of inequity, poverty, and malnutrition through a food systems approach to vegetables. Founded in 1971 as the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (AVRDC), WorldVeg has an established presence and extensive network of partners in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, allowing us to maintain a global perspective while grounding our efforts in local contexts.
