Xi'An University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) was named Xi'An Institute of Metallurgy in 1959 and subsequently Xi'An Institute of Metallurgy and Construction Engineering in 1963. On March 8, 1994, approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the university adopted its present name. Since day one, it has been widely recognized as one of the higher education leaders in the field of architecture and engineering in China.
