It is best-known for its ONIX for Books metadata standard, EDItX messaging and the Thema subject classification. The company is an acknowledged leader in global standards for the exchange of bibliographic information, identifiers and of e-commerce messages in the book and journal publishing sectors. Though based in London, it has a growing international membership of publishers, distributors, wholesalers, subscription agents, retailers, libraries, system vendors, rights organisations and trade associations spread across more than 24 countries.
